Finite-size scaling in systems with long-range interaction

چکیده
The finite-size critical properties of the O(n) vector φ4 model, with longrange interaction decaying algebraically with the interparticle distance r like r−d−σ, are investigated. The system is confined to a finite geometry subject to periodic boundary condition. Special attention is paid to the finite-size correction to the bulk susceptibility above the critical temperature Tc. We show that this correction has a power-law nature in the case of pure long-range interaction i.e. 0 < σ < 2 and it turns out to be exponential in case of shortrange interaction i.e. σ = 2. The results are valid for arbitrary dimension d, between the lower (d< = σ) and the upper (d> = 2σ) critical dimensions. PACS numbers: 05.70.Jk, 64.60.Ak, 64.60.Fr Typeset using REVTEX 1

Universal finite-size scaling analysis of Ising models with long-range interactions at the upper critical dimensionality: isotropic case.
We investigate a two-dimensional Ising model with long-range interactions that emerge from a generalization of the magnetic dipolar interaction in spin systems with in-plane spin orientation. This interaction is, in general, anisotropic whereby in the present work we focus on the isotropic case for which the model is found to be at its upper critical dimensionality. To investigate the critical ...
متن کاملFinite-Size Scaling and Long-Range Interactions
The present review is devoted to the problems of finite-size scaling due to the presence of long-range interaction decaying at large distance as 1/rd+σ, where d is the spatial dimension and the long-range parameter σ > 0. Classical and quantum systems are considered. 1. Finite-size systems and critical phenomena A common wisdom is that the singularities in the thermodynamic functions at a criti...

In this paper, we study in details the critical behavior of theO(n) quantum φ4 model with long-range interaction decaying with the distances r by a power law as r−d−σ in the large n-limit. The zero-temperature critical behavior is discussed. Its alteration by the finite temperature and/or finite sizes in the space is studied. The scaling behaviours are studied in different regimes depending upo...
متن کاملStrange scaling and relaxation of finite-size fluctuation in thermal equilibrium.
We numerically exhibit two strange phenomena of finite-size fluctuation in thermal equilibrium of a paradigmatic long-range interacting system having a second-order phase transition. One is a nonclassical finite-size scaling at the critical point, which differs from the prediction by statistical mechanics. With the aid of this strange scaling, the scaling theory for infinite-range models conjec...
متن کاملScaling behavior for finite O(n) systems with long-range interaction.
A detailed investigation of the scaling properties of the fully finite O(n) systems, under periodic boundary conditions, with long-range interaction, decaying algebraically with the interparticle distance r like r(-d-sigma), below their upper critical dimension, is presented. The computation of the scaling functions is done to one loop order in the nonzero modes. The results are obtained in an ...
